Frequently Asked Questions About Working
with Maumee Bay Mobile Speech Services
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we accept traditional Medicare and select Medicare Advantage insurance plans. All other individuals are subject to our private/cash pay rate.
What is your attendance and cancellation policy?
All cancellations must be submitted 12 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. Failure to notify the provider of tardiness or cancellation may result in a $35 fee which may be assessed at the time of rescheduling. This fee is billed directly to the client and not their insurance. If you are late to or cancel 3 appointments with inadequate notice, within the plan of care, the office reserves the right to discharge services. Failure to appear for an appointment (No Show) without providing appropriate advance notification for 2 or more appointments within the established plan of care, may result in cancellation of future scheduled appointments for 6 months.
How will I be billed for services?
All therapy fees (including session fees and/or co-pays, if applicable) are due at the time of service, unless otherwise stated by the clinician at the time of evaluation. We will provide a digital invoice outlining the services rendered and the amount charged via Square. Paper invoices may be generated by written request to info@maumeebaytherapy.com
What forms of payment are accepted?
We accept the following payment methods at this time: Cash, all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, etc.). Checks should be made payable to Maumee Bay Mobile Speech Services, MB Mobile Speech Svs, or Taylor Kae Hahn.
Where will services be provided?
Services are available in your home, our office, or via teletherapy online.
Do you charge extra for driving to in-home sessions?
Private/cash pay clients may be subject to a charge of $0.60 per mile outside of the 30 mile radius from our office on 445 Earlwood Ave. in Oregon, Ohio.
What are the benefits of in-home therapy?
We are able to adapt your behaviors and abilities in the true format our instruction was meant to be utilized within. Any barriers that could not be overcome in an outpatient or clinic setting are more easily adjusted within the natural environment.
What are the benefits of teletherapy?
No driving or significant preparation is required for this type of treatment. It is convenient if you are unable to be seen in the office or are outside of the 30 mile radius from our home base. This type of therapy is perfect for someone who has the ability to attend to a screen and generalize information from visual/verbal teaching to real life. Voice therapy is one example of a treatment that could be completed in a digital treatment format. However, almost all evaluations and treatment settings can be modified to fit your needs.
What ages do you work with?
We see adult individuals 18+. Older children are considered for treatment of swallowing & voice on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out for more information.
How long will I need therapy?
Therapy treatment is dependent upon progress. The typical treatment plan is created with the individual's needs in mind. The usual length of a plan of care is approximately 6 to 8 weeks.
How do I know if I need speech-language pathology (SLP) or speech therapy as an adult?
We offer a free, 10-minute consultation where we will answer any questions you might have and inquire further into your symptoms.
Will you collaborate with my loved ones, caregivers, and/or other therapists?
Yes! We are happy to collaborate and communicate with any other members of your care team. Feel free to bring any relevant medical records to an initial evaluation or subsequent treatments.
How often will I come to therapy?
Treatment frequency is dependent upon severity of symptoms and desired goals. On average patients are seen 1 to 2 times per week. We have the capacity to see individuals up to 3 times per week currently.
What does a caregiver coaching session look like?
This is a 30 to 60 minute meeting with or without the individual present to review relevant information to their case, compensatory strategies, discuss best approaches to treatment, and potential for reaching goals. The SLP answers any questions the caregiver may have.
